kerryd15
Hi, I bought 16 ft V hull with a 1994 50HP Mercury. Wondering what the gas consumption on this will be like. There is a 6 gal gas tank, will that last all day if I pull the kids on a tube? Would 12 be better, maybe 2- 6gal tanks. The one that in there has a broken lid and no guage. have not had it on the water. thanks
Larson15
I would definitely upgrade to a 12 gallon or add a smaller reserve tank.
Finns
I have a 16 foot with a 40 Johnson and TROLL with 2 or 3 people most of the day on one 6 gallon tank with a little left over. I think maybe a 12 with a spare small (2g) tank to get you back to shore.
marine_man
6 Gallons won't last all day pulling kids tubing. A 12 gallon if you're going with a built-in tank would work well; if not, then I'd run two 6 gallon tanks.marine_man
Outfitter17
If you are going to be on the lake all day pulling tubes/water skiers, you will have alot of start stops and this will drink your fuel like crazy - especially in an older 2 stroke. 12 gals at a minimum and maybe a small 2 gal, just in case like finns mentioned
trolloni
if it is a classic 50 4 cylinder ,they love gas ,one i had wulfed 2 - 6 gallon tanks a day !
Ralph Wiggum
I agree. I have a '93 60 HP Merc (3 cylinder) on a 16'. If I run at WOT, I can use up a 6 gallon tank pretty quickly. Pulling a tube will drink gas in a hurry, too.
