You can turn down the output of the Mr Heater sunflower heaters. Carefully pry off the plastic knob ( the one with high, med, low, and off) underneath there will be an allen head recessed into the brass. If I remember right turning that counter-clockwise turns down the output. Then you need to put the knob back on and try it. There needs to be enough heat to keep the thermocouple from shutting it down. Some of the knobs have an "insert" that can be removed so you can adjust with the knob on. They still put out plenty of heat on high. Disclaimer: I do not know if this is recommended by the Mr Heater.

I like the one that Esox_Magnum has! He put a torch knob on his so he has infinate range. Sweet idea!
