City of Lakes Loppet

Has anyone ever skied or been to the City of Lakes Cross-Country Ski Loppet? Is anyone planning on doing it this year?

The City of Lakes Loppet is a cross-country ski festival featuring the trails and lakes of Minneapolis held February 6-7. The ski races finish in Uptown.

A good friend of mine will be in the proclass skijoring. Pretty fun to watch the excitement of the dogs.

Went to it last year, it was fun to watch! My nephew does the skijoring, I am going to try and make it to that as well this year.

I think I might have to talk the wife into checking this out this year, it sure looks amazing.

I'm debating about skiing it this year. Haven't ever done it either but it looks like a lot of fun. I might have to see how the weather forecast looks like in another few days.

From what I've seen you don't have to be a great skier, it is a lot of family's, kids, skiers of all ages and skill. If the weather is decent it would be a great way to spend an evening.

I was thinking of doing one of the skate races on Sunday. Either the 10k or 33k skate. The candlelight ski at night looks really neat, but I don't know if I could convince my wife to ski with me.

I don't XC ski enough and my skis are really old so I've never considered doing it.

I will be doing the Tri-Loppet in June as my first tri. Really pumped for that.

Ditto here! Some day I should get with modern times and try skate skiing!

Skate skiing is an incredible workout and really works the different leg muscles and hips. It also allows you to ski a lot faster. The only real drawback, if there is one, is that you pretty much need to be on groomed trails. I know that Three Rivers Park District and a few other places around the metro rent skate skis, including Elm Creek.
