devils lake?

A few questions. Me and some friends are thinking going to devils lake fishing and never been there before so any suggestions helpful. Any good resorts for putting us on fish and good price on house and cabin rentals. Also a good lodge to drink and have a good time at night with good food? We are also wondering if we can spearing even though we are from out of state? We usually go to lake of the woods and sick of all the small fish looking for something with some size. Thank you

To my knowledge woodlands has everything you are looking for. nice cabins or motel, bar steakhouse on site. i believe they have spearing houses for rent and creel bay is close to alot of good fishing if the fish are biteing.

3 friends and I have gone to Devils two times 2007 &2008. Stayed at woodland resort both times. Nice cabins,bar and good cleaning house. The eye and perch fishing was a waste of time both years , but the northens on tip ups in woffords bay saved both trips. Lots of fun lots of 4-6lbs with a couple each year over 10 lbs. The people at the resort were so so. Had one older guy that really tried to help us find/catch fish otherwise almost seemed like they wanted you to pay for the perch express guides.

Non residents to ND can spear in ND if the state you are a resident from allows the same rights to Non residents to that state. So if your from MN your can't spear as a non resident to ND.

I think MN allows non residents to spear now so if your from MN you should be ok to try and stick one in ND. I think it was one of the changes this year in the regs.

i like woodland.... i have never actually used any of their services except for stopping in and buying a few snacks or their cleaning house. Pete's bait shop can tell you a few good places to go also.

and not to steal your topic but is anyone going to the tournament this weekend? i am leaving the cities tomorrow morning brite and early. not looking forward to the drive, it was a lot easier when i lived in fargo.

On the DNR's webpage under updates effective July 1st, shows:

Permits a nonresident to take fish by spearing; establishes nonresident spearing and darkhouse fees.
