Deep Fried Turkey???

Recommended Posts

I have about a 10lb turkey that I would like to deep fry for the game on sunday. How long do I need to to fry it, and at what temp? What type of oil?

I was thinking of taking all the meat then and putting it in a crockpot with some bullion(sp?) cubes. Any ideas?

Thanks

Most times I just go with 3 1/2 minutes a pound at 350 degrees.

If it is going to be a one shot deal go with vegetable oil because of the price but if you plan to reuse the oil get peanut oil.

No matter what I will always check the temp of my meat with a thermometer just to be sure. The temp will continue to rise some while it is resting.

Not sure about the crock pot thing but if you want to keep the meat warm for sandwiches I am sure it would work out just fine.

As said before don't overflow the grease, it make a good fire quick!!!! Put turkey in pot and fill with water to cover it, Mark on outside of pot the level with permanent marker. Inject turkey and let sit overnight, before putting in hot grease make sure to drain water & juice out of turkey as it will splatter all over. 3 1/2 minutes per pound at 350 degrees. Injoy
