Arctic Warrior Tip Up Question

Is there a correct way of rigging this tip up? I have seen it done 2 ways. One way I have seen is the drag on the reel is super lose so a fish can run with it without feeling any resistance and then tightning the drag back up before setting the hook. The other way I have seen is keeping the drag completely open with the line pinched between the hole and the flag so when a fish bites it the flag pops up and you can close the bale and set the hook. The method with the line pinched is a pain in the butt because sometimes it takes a while to get the line pinched. The problem is that when you buy one of these it does not tell you the correct way to set one of these up. Does anyone know the correct way that these are suppose to be setup? I do the pinched line method and I hate it, I figure that these were not intended to be setup this way but not sure. Any help would be appreciated.

I've had one for years and I alway open the bail and run line through the bent loop in the end of flag shaft that hooks to the metal part strapped on the rod.The only way line can come off is if the flag is tripped. Have small perch trip it and get hooked with no trouble feeling the resitence. The reel has to set in the cradle upside down.
