car dies when you stop

Recommended Posts

My daughter has an 06 ford taurus with over 100,000 miles on it, She just called me and said it dies when she comes to a stop. But it starts again and off she goes but dies again when she stops, I might have to go and get her. Any ideas on whats going on? Thanks

Does it stumble or chug to a stop, die slowly or quit like you shut it off?

Most likely its one of the things already suggested by 4wandering, but if not, when you get a chance, try driving it and put it in neutral as you are coming to a stop. If it doesnt die, try it again in gear and see if it dies. Its possible (outside chance) it could be something like a torque converter clutch not disengaging.

She has told me that it did it a few times but it hasnt died again since that day. When i get time i will have to take it in somewhere for her, dont like to spend to much on it with all the miles on it but it has been pretty dependable till now. Thanks for all of your feedback.
