Slow down strategies?

February is a very good time for darkhouse spearing.

As it gets later in the season I do notice more pike cruzing just under the ice.

Right now I have been finding them wanting to hug the bottom.

I put the spinner right near the bottom and have had better luck latley.

my spearing is usually at its best towards the end of january and beginning of february...

Do you guys change location later in the winter?

Move to deeper water or anything like that?

I was just out panfishing and my buddy got a nice pike in 30' of water.

Some do.

I am in 12 FOW now.

In a couple weeks I am going to move to the deepest part of the lake. Aprox 28 FOW.

Once things start warming up (late late season) the "bugs" come out on the mud flats, the little fish like to eat them, and we all know what likes to eat the little fish.

yep heuy some of my best spearing comes from the deepest parts of the lake during late season just skirting the outside of the panfish areas. You know where all the fishhouses are at wink.

on smaller shallower lakes I will look for the deeper parts of the lake if its 12 fow then I look for the sand or mud flats nearest to the deepest water in the area. and start my search for pike there. its like merk said we all know what likes to eat little fish...
