Cooking

What do you cook over when you tent camp? I'd like to have a back-up source to cook on for the times when a fire can't be made. I'm not really looking to buy anything, I'd like to make something if I could. Is it possible to make a mini BBQ grill out of a gallon paint can or similar? Looking for any ideas!

i remember from my boyscout days we would take an empty tuna can, fill it in a tight packed circular pattern of cardboard, and drip candle wax over it. this would be the "sterno" which would be placed in under an empty coffee can which would serve as the stove top. the coffee can had a 3x3 hole cut out on the botttom where it met the ground to allow for air flow and putting in the tuna can. another idea would be to take an empty coffee can with a lid, cut a slit in big enough to put a quarter in it, and everyday put one quarter in it. by the time you go camping you will have enough money to buy a colman stove.
