Lake Maps

I'm new to fishing the area so I don't really know the lakes at all. Instead of just following the herd of shacks on the ice, it would be nice to look at a map and make an educated guess at where the fish are hiding.

Anybody have any recommendations on where to find quality lake maps besides the ones provided by the dnr HSOforum? I'm looking for something that will tell me where a rock pile or weedline is.

Check your local baitshops, you can usually pick up a waterproof map for $6-$10 and they sometimes have hotspots or tips listed for the lake, as well as the type of structure or bottom content.

I know the GM in forest lake has a pretty good selection, most of the supplementary information on the map has been provided by local baitshops or companies.

Mrab- First off a big Welcome to HotSpotOutdoors. Great to have you with us.

There are a couple of options. If you have a handheld GPS, you can try either Lakemaster or Navionics cards. They are fairly good. Otherwise you can look like others have said at your local bait shop.

However, your best bet is to do your homework this next open water season and search out new areas to drill this next winter.

again, welcome and hope you stay here on the boards.
