kurt08
Well I tried spearing last winter with a friend and we speared a whole bunch of dog fish and only a couple little northerns but that was enough to ignite the flame. So this year over christmas break I borrowed a house and spear from my uncle. I got lucky because he never uses it also a friend from school carves decoys so he gave me some decoys to try out for free. Well long story short I am absolutely loving it. I have speared some missed lots and passed on some little ones. I have seen 63 northerns in the 8 times I have been out. Most of the ones I have speared have been in the 3-5 LB range i did spear one that was 10(came in and smacked the decoy and I didnt realize how big he was). I am starting to get the hang of throwing the spear finally. Not missing much anymore. I cant believe it took me this long to start spearing, what a rush. kurt08
Well so far i would say the most important thing i learned was to avoid throwing at an angle haha really cut down the misses in a hurry.
bassNspear
ya, thats a great point. I wont throw it if in fact i might have a bad angle! This is a very key point!
