Howa 1500 rifles

D4 Army

I've mentioned this before on a diffent thread. Anyway, Howa has been around for quite some times, decades, matter of fact. I bought my 1st one back in the early 80's, a .270 & '06 for me and a .270 & 7mmg for the son. I had an FFL in those days and sold a lot of them. They were shooters right out of the box. Then, Smith and Wesson put thier stamp on them and then Mossberg and now BACK to the Howa stamp. I don't find much difference in them and the Weatherby Vanguard. Thier barreled actions never left the market under the Howa name. The only thing I had negative about them was the trigger on my 06. It was horrible, but I remedied that with a Timney replacement. If I was in the market I wouldn't hestitate to pick up another one but, I'd sure check out the trigger 1st. However, let me qualify that statement. I like a light crisp trigger not much unlike a bench rester would use.

I own one as well, so I figured I'd chime in. One of my rifles is a Howa 1500 chambered in .30-06 and I've been very satisfied. I've had it for about 12 years and it's been shooting tight groups the whole time(sub-MOA, surprisingly)...killed it's 20th deer this year. The Marlin XL7's are another good buy without breaking the bank.
