Treeing Walker Coonhound?

Believe it or not I have seen a few hounds that were great upland hunters, they started them out that way as a pup. I used to have Bluetics, and always thought about that, but never tried myself. They will retrieve and have the nose for sure to find game, They would just have to be channeled that way to start. No different then bird dogs taught to find drugs for law enforcement.

Used to listen to those great hounds chasing foxes when I was a kid. I'm betting, assuming its a young dog or puppy, that you can get him to do what you want after a fashion.

The best part will be listening to him while he's working and retrieving! HA

(the less fortunate who have never heard a pack working on a fox or coon won't get it.)

I recently adopted a Walker and was wondering if anybody has used these dogs for grouse? I know their good for hare and coons. I'm assuming not going to retreive just for flushing maybe. thanks

Just curious, what would make you think walkers are "good for hare"? Because they look like large beagles?
