mws4dux
I shot my first banded bird.Been waterfowl hunting for 20 years. It was a female lesser goose. It was banded in manitoba on 8-13-96 shot it on 12-1-09.The bird was too young to fly when banded. The band was rubbed down pretty good.In 13 years i wonder how many miles that bird put on.Just thought i would share the story.Merry christmas

lawdog
Isn't that amazing? I shot my only banded goose ever at Talcott many years ago now and it was 11 years since it was banded. I couldn't believe it... It was only one county away from where it was banded too. Did it ever leave????

mudslinger
Great story. gotta love the bling. I remember being a young teenager and shooting a banded mallard with a friend. We thought we could get in trouble for shooting a special mallard so we took the band off and pretended it never happened. Maybe the duck gods are mad at me since I haven't shot one since. Gordie
dont feel bad mudslinger I've been duck hunting for a lot of years and shoot a lot of ducks and geese and only have one to my credit and it came off of a goose banded in MO and I coulda had one otherbut a buddy and I both pulled up on the same bird each took one shot and both of us hit it told him he could have the bird then found out it was banded but I did my good deed so I'm still waiting for another band
