I shot my first banded bird.Been waterfowl hunting for 20 years. It was a female lesser goose. It was banded in manitoba on 8-13-96 shot it on 12-1-09.The bird was too young to fly when banded. The band was rubbed down pretty good.In 13 years i wonder how many miles that bird put on.Just thought i would share the story.Merry christmas

Isn't that amazing? I shot my only banded goose ever at Talcott many years ago now and it was 11 years since it was banded. I couldn't believe it... It was only one county away from where it was banded too. Did it ever leave????

Great story. gotta love the bling. I remember being a young teenager and shooting a banded mallard with a friend. We thought we could get in trouble for shooting a special mallard so we took the band off and pretended it never happened. Maybe the duck gods are mad at me since I haven't shot one since.
