Otter rod case - do you guys fold handles down before closing?

I got an Otter case, but not sure if I should fold handles down or not before closing. It will close with them "ready" but it seems kind of tight. I hate the thought of always folding the reels in, cause that will be a hassle, but don't want broken reels. Thanks!

My smaller spinning reels I do not. If I place 5-7 rods in the case, then yes as I place them rod tip to reel and stagger them.

Thanks Harvey. For ABU 100's do you consider then "small"? They are a bit larger than some ice reels, but still small. That is what most of mine are. Thanks agian.
