40 lb LP tank

I'm having trouble keeping my 30,000 Procom blueflame heater going and I'm pretty sure its the LP tank. It will run for about 1/2 hr and then the pilot will flame out, and the heater will stop. If I let it sit for awhile it will run for awhile agian. I figured it needed to be topped off but when I brought it to top off he said the scale showed it was full he let out a bounch of (air) opening the main valve. He said that would help well it still does the same thing. Any thoughts how to fix my tank.

before you buy anything try this, if you just crack the valve open like maybe 1/2 -3/4 of a turn instead of opening it all the way. i had a problem with a gas grill a few years ago was told at the propane shop to try that and wall la it works perfect, so guess what happened last year whil out on the ice the heater keep acting up my buddy was out there beating the hell ottta the regulator and was ready to slap on the new one he bought when i stepped out and said here try this! what do you know he still has a back up regulator sitting in his garage.

I had the same problem with the same size heater. I ended up discussing the issue with our local propane guy and I was told that a 30000 btu heater needed more than a 20lb tank. I ended up hooking it up to a 100lber---end of problem.

Hope this helps.
