Hummingbird ICE 45

I got an ICE 45 last year and when I pulled it out to charge it up it was acting funny. The charger would click to yellow (charging) and then flip back to green (fully charged). It never did a full charging cycle, just clicked back and forth. So I was wondering if anyone has hear of this or if anyone can offer any advice. I dont think the charger is bad because I charged my Dad FL-18 and it worked fine.

Thanks for the help!

Most chargers made today are somewhat intellegent and monitor the devise they are charging to protect the device and mostly to protect the charger. I would imagine its seeing something in the battery it doesnt like or a couple of battery plates are shorted and the charger is seeing a "fully" charged battery even though it may not be. I realize you purchased the unit a year ago but you never know how long the battery sat around before H-Bird installed it in its box. Looks like to me you need to buy a new battery. imo....Fins

I noticed my 55 holds a charge for a long time. Based on your usage/experience, maybe the battery was still pretty full?

Definitely check the connections and make sure there isn't a short in the charger.

All In,

I have and ICE 45 also and had the same problem you have. Basically after using it all day, it would flip to Green immediately upon charging. The rep at HB told me that it may have been a faulty lighting mechanism. I;ve continued to just charge it overnight(even with the light showing green) and have not had a problem with it.

I doubt its your battery, but just the charger behaving poorly.
