Esox_Magnum
Mid 90's V-Max 600's. Good bad?? Looking at a couple with under 1000 miles on them.
Deep_Sinker
Engines are near bullet-proof with maintenance. The suspension isn't the greatest. I had over 10k on my 95.
muddpuppy
I have a 97 VMAX sx 600 great sled. they did have their problems though. 1. The piston ring pins seem to come loose and snags on the exhaust ports. So if the motor is original this could be an issue in the 96 97 years. I have owned mine since new and it just happened to me last year with 2500 miles on it.2. The manual oil pump would fail. 96-97 this also happened to mine around 2200 milesBoth of these issues were resolved in
Esox_Magnum
One I'mlooking at is a 94-95, 900 miles on it in near showroom condition. Still working on a reasonable price but if we can agree I'll have it. It is a 2 up, perfect for ice fishing.
MnIceman
I have a 96 V-max 600XT. Had it since it was a year old. Have 5600 miles on it and it still runs great. The pogo stick suspension sucks in deep snow, the gas mileage is horrible (6-8 mpg). Always the first one looking for gas. Yamaha parts are way to expensive. I've had to rebuild the clutches twice now. The handle bars hit my knees easily on winding trails. No problems with the oil pump or engine . Sniper07
The handle bars should be an easy fix by installing a handle bar riser.
