New Strikemaster Solo - Re-coil.

kitchy

Question

A buddy of mine just bought a new 3HP Strikemaster. Watched the video, filled with gas, gave it a pull, and presto....recoil broke.

I've been a Stikemaster fan for quite some time but wanted to put this out there and see if anybody else is having issues. The sad thing is that he has owned Jiffy's all his life and this is his first SM.

This happened to me tonight. Brand new SM Mag. The recoil busted on about the 20th pull tonight just as I wanted to drill different depths to find some fish. I'm taking it back to GM tomorrow. If they do not have another one, I'm going with a different brand. Perhaps this stuff should be field tested. After taking it apart just now, I realized that most of the parts are plastic?!?!?. This is my first SM. My next drill might be another Jiffy.

I live a long way from big lake but I have had this recoil apart to know it has a lot of grease it and if its wrong like im hearing from all of you does any one no a good lubricant to use that i could get at lowes or Menards.

Just use the WD-40 like Strikemaster states.

So, if the next one does the same? The "fix" has already been issued by Strikemaster. Call SM and they'll even send you a new recoil, from what I hear and probably overnight. That's even less hassle then running back to GM to exchange it.
