Vexilar FL-20 Problems

Hi all--This is my third season with it and love it...however the last couple nights out I've been having problems with it. It will work fine and then all of the sudden it will just shut off. Then if i mess with the ducer cord a little, it will flash on and off and with about 5 minutes of dinking around I can get it working again. Or If I have a fish on and he gets caught up in the ducer the screen will go blank and I gotta start all over.

Just curious if anyone has had a similar problem or insights? Dont know if I need to replace the transducer/cord or if its an internal problem. Needless to say I have been very frustrated the last couple times fishing.

Thanks for any replies!

Justin

Sounds to me like you got some resistance, in a pinched wire creating a short like. As you move the wire it makes contact once again and starts working. My 20 did that and I tried my brothers transducer and it worked fine. So off to Gander I went to replace it. Now it has worked flawlessly ever since. That my 2 cents worth.

Check the connections, and if she still acts up, replace the ducer...sounds like a damaged cord or ducer to me.

FYI: If you do need to replace the ducer...just as well upgrade it to the dual beam as your already going to pay over 2/4th the cost anyway, and the duel will come in handy.

I have an issue with my FL 20 as well so I'll take it on this topic. It's not sonar but my Range knob is acting a little goofy. It "spins" around, yet I am still able to change into the range that I want. Do any of you know if these knobs pop off? Anyone ever have this problem? e.
