Anterless Season success???

Recommended Posts

The snow really made the deer yard up in their wintering areas.

4 of us got 5.

I jumped 13 out of a bedding area, I could have easily shot 2 or 3, I got to within 20 yards of them before they busted me.

I did some stalking through standing corn and saw 11 does and 3 bucks in a 2 acre patch of corn.

I think I should host a Hunt next year, there are so many deer it is unreal.

Give me a call if you need help burning tags!

I found a honey hole this past weekend and saw 23 deer from Sat around noon until yesterday night - shot a doe at about 4:25 last night. Talk about last minute.

Just under 70 acres and that was the 12th deer taken off there and the amount of sign is incredible. They said the area was like a war zone reg gun season and everyone they talked to all reported seeing deer, many said it was the most they'd seen in years.

Hard to figure out why and the kicker is that it is not a herd-control unit. I saw 5 deer in 6 days of reg gun and muzzleloader in herd control units and then 23 in a day and a half. I can't figure it out, but am glad I got on some deer finally and got some veni.

Nice to hear of your last minute success Cooter! Apparently there are SOME deer left in Wisconsin.

Good for you too RRR! What part of the state were you hunting? You wanna host a Get Together next year, I'm IN! grin

I dont hunt the doe season and I haven't heard of very many people who have shot deer that do around the Prescott area.

On another note, I saw about 30 deer in Willow River State Park just north of Hudson the other day. Four bucks (one appeared to be a nice 16-18" wide 10 pointer) and several large groups of does and fawns. I thought some state parks do an open season?, but apparently not Willow River.
