Eurasian Collared Dove

Exactly one month since micpic's sighting and photo, I come across one. I didn't realize that it wasn't a Mourning Dove until I watched it for awhile. It was a first for me. Sorry about the seeds, but the picture isn't really worth spending all the time to clean it up.

I think these guys are going to be the new nuisance bird when there population really explodes. Think pigeon in a smaller package. They are very accustomed to humans too and breed very fast when they get going. I used to have some as aviary birds. They do have a nice coo to listen to.

Nice discovery X, it pays to pay attention Maybe next time you will turn up another common ground dove or another inca dove! I wonder sometimes just how many unique birds get overlooked.
