I need some new ice fishing friends

Recommended Posts

Hello - I've posted in other forums here a few times over the last few years, but it's been awhile. I'm really looking forward to ice fishing this year but I've been thinking that I need to find some new friends to fish with. Not that fun to fish alone ... my hubby isn't into it and the people I've been going out with for many years have become unreliable. We make plans, I drive two+ hours to get there, and then they often bail. (they are much older than I am - they're retired so can go whenever they want so it's no big deal to them if they cancel - but it drives me nuts!). Anyway, I need to move on. No more messing around with wishy-washy plans - just want to get out there with people who are solid and will go when they say they'll go.

I live in the twin cities but will travel almost anywhere, in any direction. I know many of the central MN lakes (Stearns - where I have a cabin-, Douglas, & Pope counties) very well as I'm from that area originally, but again ... will go anywhere.

My auger is pretty old and isn't working very well, but I have two very nice, custom-made one-person portables and am willing to lend one.

If anyone is interested in getting together, please reply.

tnx!

Ann

Ann,a bunch of are always doing something. New Years weekend a bunch of us are going to Mille Lacs, and there is a gal in Andover and one in Brooklyn Park who are always up for some ice fishing. I am in Grand Rapids, but like to travel a lot and am retired so I can go anytime. I know we will be doing some fishing around Leech this winter and also Forest Lake area. By the way welcome to the forum, it is a fun place to hang out.

Ann I was reading your post to my wife and how I can relate to that and she said call her if she likes to fish as much as you Etc. I live in Rockford, Mn. Have a super shack portable and a sled. And when the ice gets thicker I have a 6x12 drop down to use. Your welcome anytime if you feel like it Rick...

Ann,

If you don't mind going out with 20 somethings, I've always got people heading out fishing in the south metro. As a landscape designer, I spend a fair amount of time ice fishing.

A group of us are going on a scouting mission on a tiny metro lake in search of some 'eyes next weekend. You welcome to join us.

Any time you want to head out email me at [email protected]

Hello Ann,

My name is Holly and I am up in Canada. I fish for greenbacks on the Red River and Lake Winnipeg daily. I am trying to get some ladies together this year to for a group called the Canadian Jigglers, lol. Want to make it an annual event for ice fishing weekend for ladies. You and all ladies can pm me if you are interested. All you have to bring is a smile and your clothing.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
