Lip'em
Who"s planning on braving the subzero temps this weekend to chase late season geese?Have people been seeing birds in the typical late season areas? (Hutchinson, Fergus Falls, Rochester, Monticello, Miss River area, Glencoe?) Hard for me to wanna ice fish when there are still some honkers around to be shot!Good luck to all who venture out and stay warm!

carpshooterdeluxe
i'll be out in the zoo. last year the birds flew over 17 decoy spreads to get to ours. we still shot a 7 man limit though opening day of late season!
RumRiverRat
Takes a special kind of crazy person to hunt in weather like we will have this weekend.Superduty has located the roost and has been trying to pattern the departure time, I am going to scout Friday Afternoon to see if they are going to the fields he has permission on. fishgutz77
didn't hunt today due to dog injury. Chester shot infront of my truck as I was pulling in and he got his right rear paw run over.950$ later no broken bones but 30 stiches and exposed joint on a non weight bering toe. So Iv'e been doggy sitting. Now I have to hunt fields only no river action.Hurts to do that to your own dog but he has a new respect for cars and trucks now.Anyway I'll be out in the afternoon after his visist to the vet to look at the healing and drain tubes.Birds have been hunkering down in the morning cold and feeding from 11:00 am to 3 pm. My hunting commrads have been birdless and frozen two early mornings in a row hoping new arivals would be feeding early. goose count on the river at about 2000 - 2500 birds and 700 swans and 1500-2000 mallards mostly all right in town. As all the bigger lakes start to freeze up that number should go up until the snow gets deeper. Can't wait for Saturday late season action.good luck and always get your sailers and crips. RumRiverRat
Meh, looks like the geese will not cooperate this weekend.I am not to confident in what my scouting this afternoon will reveal.
RumRiverRat
No Late Goose for me, the roost froze.I know where the geese went but it will be impossible to get permission on the fields they feed in.

fishgutz77
Was out in the feild friday afternoon and managed one bird. With the warming spell birds are moving 8:30-9:30 and then again at noon to one, staying out till 3-3:30 with very little movment just before sundown with some smart birds moving 20 mins after sunset.Might hunt the river on Monday and I'll post a report. The rest of the crew is out with the smoke polls trying to get that done on the last two days here.I would say that a few hundred mallards and geese have left in the last day or so but numbers still remain good.Wack'em
