I have a Aqua Vu Scout 50 that I severed the cable while trolling. It worked pretty well for me on the ice and maybe 3-4 trips on the boat/year Rather than buy a replacement camera for $100, I picked up a Fish TV at Cabelas for $60.

It's still made by Nature Vision, so it seems like a stripped down version of the cheaper Scouts. Same screen size as what I had. I like that I can hook it up to my boat 12 Volt battery system with the included power cord (very short though). If you want regular batteries it takes like 10 C size, which I would imagine is rather expensive. It did not come with a 12 volt battery, although there is a compartment for one in the zippered pouch which I will use with my old battery. The main thing I'm disappointed in is the lack of a clear fin for directional trolling and the lack of a lead ballast to keep it near bottom. Bottom line, it's not a top of the line product, but has some good value.

I don't know if the model you're referencing is the same as mine. On mine that was another thing that was not present. There is no "AV out" port on the Fish TV as on my Scout. Not only could you hook up to a larger screen with this port, but you can hook up a video recorder and take your own videos.

With the addition of the battery and charger, that's still a pretty decent deal.
