Vexilar help please

So I want to buy I used vexilar, I don't really need anything fancy as I'm not a die hard fisherman but I can't fish w/out one.

My question is...what is the SLT model all about? All I have gathered so far is that it's an older model but thats all I can find. Does it operate the same as the newer ones(same power and what not)? Reason I ask is because I really am leaning towards getting one of them because they are a lot cheaper.

Thanks for any info!

I think they operate at the same power level as the new ones, 400 Watts Peak-to-Peak. The screen is not as bright as even the slightly newer ones but they basically operate the same and show the same thing. I have one that my son uses and he really likes it.

They will do the job.

Cupped I cant respond to the original question , BUT im like you I cannot ice fish without one. I have an old Vexilar fl8 that has served me well for over 10 years. Had one for the wife as well. Well I mounted it on a boat I sold and had to let it go with the boat. So the wife was without her flasher. She wasnt letting that happen so I needed a new one.

Call me thrifty I guess but that old fl8 has done everything i ever needed and I just couldnt justify the cost of the new models.(there sky high now). I found the marcum VX1 at GM last season for under 200.00. I dont know if they still have them or not but for the money you cant beat it. I actually like it more than the Vex, brighter and easier to see. With the same funtions.Just a thought , Might be worth a call to see if they still carry it.

I'm sure someone will have an answer here. If not you can call Vexilar cutomer service and they can tell you.

The FL-8SE is the newer model. I think it has more levels of interference rejection over the SLT version.

If you get an SLT, you may want to have it tuned up if it has a lot of use. You can do it your self or have Vexilar do it. They're located in Bloomington, MN.

Laker, you are making too much of this. Read about the SLT here.

Yes they work fine, I have an SLT. My son uses it. I bought a slightly newer FL-8SE and the color is brighter. Other than that they seem the same. The interference rejection is the same on the two I have.

I don't own one newer than that. They all say 400 Watts Peak-to-Peak even the newest ones.

I bought both of mine used and both have worked very well, year after year. I paid less for both then one new one would cost by a mile.

SLT's were the first model with IR. They came out when FL-8's started getting really popular and people began having problems with interference. SLT stands for SILENT because then you wouldn't get "noise" from other flashers. The difference between them and the new FL-8se is the SE's have a newer model screen in them and are brighter and stay bright over the years better.
