RebelSS
We're gettin' dumped on pretty good in SE Mn. right now...NWS states on their update page we'll have 11-15" by mid-day Wednesday...what I'm wondering is how and in what way all this snow (if we do get all of it)will affect ice formation. There is only skim ice on the Mississippi at Lake Pepin in Lake City, which is the farthest south I fish..usually head to White Bear, Centerville, metro area. It's supposed to get to -5 on Wednesday and Thursday night, with 10-15 daytime temps, along with 30-35 mph winds.I don't remember seeing this much snow so soon before at least 3-4" of ice are down. I'm wondering if this will lead to uneven ice formation, pockets, long range problems, etc. Any thoughts/ideas?
prov1900
I was wondering the same, but I believe with the fluffiness of the snow and the high winds, it should'nt stick to the existing ice too much. The areas that it does stick to, would be of concern for the "near" future, but with the forecasted temps, I think we should be good. Even down here, I am thinking I will be on some good, safe ice by next weekend.
