Got out today and drilled some test holes, I'm taking the shack out in the morning. Hopefully we can tease something into biting.

3.25 I measured today, lots of little 3" perch but just pecking at the bait. Never did mark a decent fish, buddy got a couple gills 4-6"

I went to the Sandy Hollow Ponds, No drilling for me. I took two steps on the ice and had cracking on both steps. I guess I will have to wait.

I've been in Michigan since Thursday, but will be driving back to Iowa tomorrow morning in the face of the snow. Should be a great time.

I am hoping that we don't have any ice yet around Iowa City so that the heavy snow will not insulate it. If our ponds are still open, the deep freeze coming Wednesday night should seal things up nicely by the weekend.

Hopefully the wind opens Spirit back up, be beteer than having 6-10" of snow on it. Luckily West is still wide open.

Call me a selfish jerk, many have already. But I prefer the years when you cant drive out. Amazing how nice it is when you have a huge area to yourself.

IMO the fishing isnt as good once everyone and there brother starts driving out and dragging portables through deep snopw really thins out the crowd as well.

Hopefully I'll have a sled by the end of the year to drag my shack with. West is still open so that will get good ice at least.

It would be nice to see good ice out there this year... This snow sure had to do a number on our chances for a solid even slab...
