Skid House

I'm looking at buying a used 8x12 skid house with a couple of guys to keep in the St. Croix. I've only fished out of portables in the past. The idea is to have it as a base camp for the kids and we can venture out from there...so I don't plan to move it very often. I'm concerned about the frame freezing in. Any advice you can offer for set up, transportation, etc would be appreciated. Should I move it every couple of weeks? If there is a warm up should I jack it up and put some 4x4's under the corners?

you wont need 2 block unless u get a major snowfall. I cant understand why sum like lifting lunker walleyes a foot outta the hole. Much easier to slide em outta the hole and onto the floor of the house when its laying flat on the ice, versus tryn to lift dead weight that high up and risk breaking the line. To each his own i guess!

I think some people would rather lift their fish a bit rather than have to chop their house out of the ice later in the season. I fish out of a wheel house and block it up a bit to keep the frame off of the ice. I usually don't fish more than a few days in the same place. I have never owned a skid house, but have read some real horror stories from people that have had their skid house freeze into the ice.
