Boar
I gonna be muzzy hunting on Sat. An have a piece of river bottom that I wanna set up in. The river bottom is surrounded on two sides, west side is cultivated bean feild, East side is chisle plowed wheat stuble, now the onlly way to acces the river bottom where I want to set up in is through one of the two feilds. Haveing shot deer over the beean feild durring rifle has pushed deer nocturnal so walikng in via bean feild before light is out, I was thinking one of two things, either wait till mid morning to access my spot since deer will have reenterd woods to bed up by first light, thus possibly making noise an alerting them to my pressence. Or acess my spot under cover of darkness from chisle plowed wheat feild in which case there should be no deer feeding there cause they should be in the bean feild on the other sde of the river allowing me to access my spot an wait in ambush along bedding trail. Only problem is I'm alittle unfamilair with entering from wheat feild side. I feel this is the best deal but was wondering what would you guys do? Oh yea, I'll be ground blinding to, I know what you thinking, an it only cause I havent put up a stand. Any input would be great. Thanks boar
redhooks
For me alot would depend on the wind, try to come into the woods downwind. If you have a gps, you can walk across the wheat in daylight to mark a path, then you should be able to follow your path in the dark. Sometimes it's easier to B-line your way to a stand which is noisy but you can get set up and get quiet quicker, verses trying to sneak in which takes more time and may still spook deer. Boar
If the wind is out of the north west which odds are it will be the n the wheat feild is entrence rout, I'm not worried about walking throught the weheat stuble feild to the woods, just unfamiliar with the woods in the dark once I get there. Gota prety good Idea om what to do I just like to talk about these things. Boar
