Traxxx
I was hunting up near the Longville area, this weekend. Shot a nice big old doe Sat evening. Guessing she was four or five years old or older. Last night when skinning her, I found some lead shot in the hide. Didn't see any visible holes in the hide or in the meat so I don't think she was shot this year. After butchering and skinning, in total, I found about 10-12 pellets. Most of the the pellets were in the hide but a couple were near the hip bone. Didn't find any in the meat itself. I know lead poisoning is nothing to mess around with. What do you guys think? paceman
IMO I would not worry one little bit. Like you said the lead was in the hide not the meat.
InTheNorthwoods
I would throw away the lead pellets and not eat them... The deer should be fine.
JacobMHD
Am I wrong to think she was shot with a shotgun loaded with birdshot of some kind?
Traxxx
Exactly, looked to be #8 shot.
