Help with Lowrance H20 and LM chip

Smails

Question

I bought an H20 this summer and put my lakemaster chip in it today. The unit locates just fine but I don't see any lake detail when I move the cursor over to Prior Lake and zoom in.

Is there a set-up procedure that I need to follow so the unit will recognize the LM chip?

Thanks for the help!

we had trouble getting out LM chip to read in our H20C last year when we got it too. make sure the chip is placed correctly in the unit, behind the batteries. we thought it was supposed to get in one way, but turns out, it went in another way then we thought. as soon we we figured out the correct way for the chip to sit behind the batteries, we were golden. i am sure you are encountering the same problem we did too. read the instructions for how to place the chip in the unit

Wish,

Yes, Prior Lake is featured on my lakemaster chip. I was just fishing Prior on Friday afternoon and my LMS-480 was working perfectly with the chip. Today, I put the chip in my H20 and moved the cursor to Lake Minnetonka and zoomed in but didn't see any lake contours either...

JWM,

I am positive the chip is installed correctly. The metal pads on the bottom of the chip line up perfectly with the metal contacts in the H20. I am installing it exactly as they recommend in the owners manual.

Thanks for the suggestions but it's got to be something else. Could the H20 be faulty since it doesn't recognize the chip?
