hummingbird smart cast for ice fishing ????

Has anyone tried using the hummingbird smart cast for ice fishing? i bought two rod mount kits to put outside the house to see if i can pickup action in tip-up holes. thought id just mount them in the house on the wall and use the alarm as a signal. maybe it doesnt work. let me kow if you've tried it!

I have the wrist watch style and can not get it to turn on in the winter.

Used one my first year on the ice. It will give you depth, occasionally it might tell you if there's a fish down there, but often not.

I have the wristwatch one, too. Keep it in a pocket with a handwarmer or it won't read out at all.

Also, keep in mind that the instructions tell you not to use it below freezing. I didn't use mine much at all, so I figured I had little or nothing to lose. It was better than nothing.
