re-loadable debit card

Wish-I-Were-Fishn

Question

Does anybody offer a free re-loadable debit card? My son doesn't want a charge card, but wants the convenience of using one instead carrying cash.

I know there are some available that charge $6.95 per reload, but that is to much $$ each time for him. Any free ones out there?

What youre looking for is a secured credit card. Some banks and credit unions will have them. they report to the credit beureu just like a regular credit card so if he is responsible, it will help raise his credit rating.

Have you checked with your bank or Credit Union? They may have an option for you.

Otherwise, as mentioned above, a debit card will basically work the same way, as I believe you can set it up to disallow transactions if there are insufficient funds (vs. it bouncing and getting charged fees and interest).
