rut? for how long?

I read a great article that some PhD in biology wrote about the rut. It's very different in every area. It said that even in the same area across a street or different 40 it can change. It has to do on how its managed. If your hunting private land and manage your does vs a piece of property right next to you that is public and managed differently, the rut will also differ. How ever, that area will always have the same rut time every year no matter moon phases, weather, ect... almost down to the DAY. Talk to your local DNR or wildlife biologist and they should know the exact time they hit rut in your area and plan to hunt that date every year. As for how long...well again that depands on the area, buck to doe ratio. I believe outdoor life featured that editor in sept-nov issue and is worth reading(I don't remember the excat month).
