woody1975
Some of you might remember that my daughter shot a nice 9 pointer last year and we were both pumped up. Well, anyway, we got on the land again this year. Any way, Saturday came and went without a deer being seen - Keep in mind that we saw 8 or 9 last year the first day. We couldn't hunt on Saturday, so Sunday found us again in the woods. Wind was perfect and everything. At first light, we saw one small doe. About 10, she wanted me to do a drive to her. As I walked past the land owners house, they called me over in a very stern voice. Once they saw who I was, they calmed down. I asked if there was a problem. They told me the neighbor has been trespassing all season long and they were afraid it affected our hunt - Even thought there was a lot of corn around, I think it did adversly affect our hunt. The owner told me he has told him many times to stay off of his property, but the guy continues to trespass. At any rate, I told the land owner that I would be happy to put up "No Hunting or Trespassing" signs up and he said that he would appreciate that. The owner told me that there was nothing he could do about it unless we put up signs. Is that the law, if the land isn't posted, you can go on it? I am an ethical hunter, so I would never do it, but I am not sure how the law reads? At any rate, I will be out putting signs up for him and I will tell him that if he catches him again to call the local CO - Which I will give him the number as well. My daughter has decided she wants to try muzzleloading, so at least we get a chance there, but I am pretty disappointed to say the least. BoxMN
Even if there are no signs, if he is told to stay off or leave, and he comes on again or does not leave, he IS trespassing. The verbal is enough. Call the CO. The signs need a name and phone number, and possibly dated I am not sure, to be legal. But either way, if somebody is told to stay off and they don't then that is trespassing.
gr8icefishinmind
Better yet........people should realize that if they do not own the land they should not be one it unless it is public land or they have permission!!! PERIOD!! I think the excuse that "the land isn't posted" is really dumb! Sorry, but i really really dislike the trespassers! haha

Arctic
If the property is agricultural land in Minnesota, it doesn't even need to be posted. You CANNOT go there without permission.
