Otter Outdoors Rod Case

Their HSOforum states that the case is 40'' long...might be a tight fit. I'm ordering one this week, too. Might try to give them a call..they don't state if that's inside or outside dimensions, but I would guess outside...

I just measured mine. The interior length is exactly 40". I'd say that 38" is a more functional maximum length for a rod laid in straight, so you'd have an inch on either side. Or you could put a 40" rod somewhat diagonal.

FWIW, if you are using longer rods like the one you mention, you may find that a rifle case works better, and may well be less costly. I bought my Otter box used, but new they're like $80. Checking one of the 'big box store' websites I see they sell a 50" long Plano Protector 2 rifle case for $30. The interior is about 14" wide, so you'd easily be able to put several rods in there.
