The Rut is on in the North Metro

I live in St Francis and driving North on 47 around 0930 this morning there was a dandy 8 to 10 point buck standing on the concrete median in the middle of the road where 47 becomes 4 lanes for a short stretch.

I also saw a large Buck cross 169 in Champlin near the Bike Bridge around 1400 hours on Tuesday.

I work 2nd shift and have had 2 near misses with deer in the last week on my drive home.

I see 10 to 20 deer between Elk River and St Francis every night.

I was in my bow stand yesterday and had a dandy 8 point run by my stand chasing a doe.

I had no time to Draw and shoot, he was running too fast.

Same stories I've been hearing in central minnesota, it was the hope for the first weekend, but now it's game on, sounds like perfect sit all day activity.

This is good news, but it is driving me crazy to get back out there. I can't get back out until Saturday. I hunt just NE of Mora. Do you think the chasing will still be going this weekend?

Just my luck! Took my son out last weekend, no action. We have to go to Fargo for family function this weekend. Maybe get up to the hunting land next weekend for the last couple days of hunting. Hopefully they will still be chasing a bit!

It was real slow for us just north of the metro last weekend. But father in law just shot a 5 pointer at noon today. I can't wait to get out there tommorrow. I took the day off!

RRR- do you hunt around St. francis?

I'm fortunate that my wife's family has farmland just west of town. It sure gets busy around here though. lots of small plots with lots of hunters, very competitive.
