Tires Toed 2001 Polaris Sportman 500 HO

I have a 2001 Sportsman 500 HO. It gets very little use and has not been used since 2007 when it was used to plow my driveway.

The machine has less then 400 miles on it and when I moved it the other day I noticed the steering was very difficult. After some inspection and standing back scratching my head I noticed the front tires were slightly toed in on the bottom, if that makes any sense. Looking at the machine from the front, both tires are pitched slightly inwards on the pavement.

This unit has been babied from day one as I am the original owner and I have only used it for ice fishing and pushing snow on my 50 foot drive way. I have looked at the steering rods, tie rods and such and all looks well. I also see that there are nuts to be loosened and adjustments that can be made.

Is this something that I can tackle with some instruction, ie, which way to turn the rods, how many times to turn the rods...

Thanks for any help and information.

Yes, I put in 4x4 to get it up on the trailer when I transported it. I'll try driving it in reverse to see if that helps. When I had it jacked up for inspection it did turn freely.

It's not at my current location but I will try as soon as I get to where it is.

Thanks for your suggestion. I'll give it a try blush
