Marmooska or Mormyshka

Both are correct, derivative is from the Russian word "Mormysh" meaning a freshwater type of shrimp. Later evolved to mean a large spoon used primarily for ice-fishing...now a loose term for many types of metal spoons for ice fishing. That's straight from a Russian friend who is an interpretor. (Plus I checked Wikipedia) I had always heard it as 'Mormushka"...always though that's how they spelled it, too. My relatives (and me) are Czech. A great question!!!! Takes me WAY back in years...!!!

Depends on your fishing style. The tungston will fish heavier, and have better action. I have both. I dont notice that I catch that much more fish on the tungston. But they sure are nice when fishing deeper water, gets you back to the fish quicker without having to upsize your bait. I would say thats when I use the tungston the most.
