Last night I was heading behind the house for an evening sit with the bow for deer and bumped 25 to 30 turkeys feeding in a ravine behind the house. I continued to the stand and about 30 minutes before dark I saw two fly up to roost on the neibors property to the East. We had my daughters Confirmation

party last night and the last guests left at around 1 A.M. The alarm went off at 5 and I didn't think Mitch was going to get up but he did and said he wanted to go after the turkeys this morning instead of deer. We set up in the back before first light with Mitch 10 yards to my right. I started with some soft calls after first light and immediately got them going. I kept calling back and forth with the boss hen for almost an hour when they finally came up over a small hill. I was waiting for Mitch to shoot and they were getting real close and he still hadn't shot yet. I said outloud, Shoot,and moments later he fired and a nice hen rolled over and then all heck broke loose. Turkeys were running and flying everywhere. I finally got on a single and rolled mine as well.

DonBo, I'd love to try a little fall fishing but I can't seem to drag myself out of the woods in the fall. A little more bowhunting, Missouri rifle,Wisconsin rifle,Minnesota muzzleloader then the real fun starts ,coyote and fox hunting with the full moon the first week of December and that will take us almost to turkey hunting in the spring. Gotta love it.
