Muzzleloader scopes?

Recommended Posts

i want to put on a scope on the TC omega 50 cal for shotgun season...i was leaning toward the nikon omega scope but reading some reviews it says its not very good in low light conditions which is huge for a hunter...what good is a scope if you can't see your game at primetime?

any recommendations for a scope with good eye relief and good with low light conditions...would like to keep it under $300.

hmmmmmmm i was reading the reviews on the cabelas site for the nikon omega and that was the biggest knock on the scope was how it performs in low light...they were saying it needs a lighted reticle.

a scope that performs great at the range but doesn't allow you to see your target during that first and last half hour would suck.

do you own one larson? have you shot any animals with it during the first or last half hour?

Yes, I do own one and I will tell you that there is absolutely no issue with low light. Nikon has a whole line of scopes that use this same platform. I looked at the cabelas site to see what reviews you see and all is see is 5 out of 5's. 118 reviews with a 4.7 avg. is pretty good!

Go look at one of these in person you will be impressed. The eye relief is better than any scope on the market.

lol i pretty much read all 118 reviews last night and this morning and that was the only gripe about it was the low light..but i know how some people are whiners and sometimes you do get a dud so you have to decifer through all the [PoorWordUsage].

i'm gonna go to gander here tonight and get the nikon omega scope, a lazer boresight, and the nikon range finder.

p.s..that was one of the other knocks is the eye relief...people said the eye relief was to much and made you sit back to far lol.

good call larson....i went and got the scope and sighted her in tonight and it is a really nice scope...i was shooting right until dark...at 75 yards i could barely see my target with the naked eye but when i pulled the scope up i could see it really nice..in fact my very last shot i blew up an ocean spray bottle we filled up with water at 75 yards.

yeah its a great scope, nicest one i've owned....took it out all day today from dark to dark hunting and it had no problem at all in low light...its really clear and the eye relief is awesome. the few guys with bad reviews must of not had the scope focused in right or have it adjusted well enough for them.

i seen 19 deer today and a real nice buck...didn't get a shot on him i let all the other keep walkin..15 or so of the 19 where all in range with nice shots...passed on a 6 and 2 forkers...must of passed on about 10 does some were big it was hard to resist...watching deer and other wildlife through your scope is fun and it kills time lol.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
