mechanictim
If you are talking aqbout a muzzleloading double barrel shotgun there are some still being made. Most of these are from Spain or Italy. Check out the Dixie gunworks catalog. There is or was not long ago a muzzleloading shotgun barrel available for the Encore rifles. Breach loading shotguns for black powder were made with damascus barrels and are no longer made and if you have an old one should not be fired with anything. You can load black powder in a shotshell with the right load data and fire them in a modern gun but you have to clean the gun right away or the sulfer will corrode the gun.Unfortunetly Modern Muzzleloading (Knight rifles) either has ceased or soon will cease production. The bad economy and people spending their gun money on guns that people believe may be banned by the current administration has forced them out of buisness. From a practical standpoint this is correct, but technically it's not true. If you have the money and time to wait James Purdey & Sons will build you one. They will build an all damascus bespoke gun for a customer that is proofed for smokeless powder. One of these babies will set you back way over $100,000 and you'll probably have to wait a couple years for delivery.
