NILS drill bit/Icegator

So I have had it with my power auger. I am going to go electric and am looking at buying the icegator. I would like to put the Nils drill on it. If I buy the Nils hand auger, will I get the same drill that comes with the Nils power auger? I am asking because when I compare prices between the strikemaster laser bit and the Nils hand auger, the strikemaster drill is more expensive by about $40. Can I buy just the Nils auger bit or do I have to buy the hand auger assy? Can I put any bit on the icegator, such as a chipper or should I stick with the shaver bits? Thanks for any feedback, for the money I am going to be spending, I just want to make sure I have all my facts straight.

I'd be surprised if you could find a Nils hand auger $40 cheaper than a Strikemaster.

Are they the same size diameter?

I didn't think so either but Cabela's has the 8 in. hand auger for $129.99 and Thorne bros. has the 8 in. lazer drill assy for $169.99. Unless I am missing something as for what comes with the lazer drill assy.

From what I see, the 8" Lazer is $89 at Cabelas

I think you want the Nils at any rate wink

dtro, sorry I was referring to the SM power auger lazer bit, not the hand auger, I should have been more specific. Ya, you are right about the Nils at any rate, but I expected the Nils to be more expensive than the SM bit, which is why I wasn't sure if Nils used the same bit on both the power and hand augers. Thanks for the info everyone, I will just go with the Nils hand auger.
