MIKE IN lINO III
We decided not to replace the windows this year but I need to replace the window weather stripping on the south side. The windows are original to a 1978 split. They are crank outs. The weather stripping fits in a slot all the way around the window and is kind of shaped like a 7 with a tail on the top to fit in the slot. (if that makes sense)Anywho... I've checked the box stores and some of the other smaller stores and can not find this stuff. Does anyone know where I might find this kind of weather stripping? Or, should I just use some generic and keep the window closed until spring?Thx, Mike
birdswacker
Your windows maybe Andersons look in the bottom corner of the glass you might come up with a brand then go directly to the manufacturer.
crothmeier
find a brand, and you can find weatherstripping, if they are in fact andersons, head to authorized anderson service dealer, they can look up your window by year and order your the appropriate weatherstripping. like birdswacker said check the corners of the glass, if it has an "AW" logo and a few numbers (4-5) it is an anderson. write down the numbers before you go in as they will need these to determine the date the windows were made. there might be a "CIG" before the numbers (cardinal insulated glass)if it is not anderson, look for any markings on the glass or hardware. if the hardware is "truth" chances are its a Weathershield. Take any other info to a window place that sells a variety of brands and they should be able to point you in the right direction.

May not be, we use Truth at Marvin and so do other window manufactures.
