I was wondering what everyone else thinks what it means when the seagulls are flying.

My opinion:

Morning: they fly after the ducks and before the geese

Evening: they fly after the geese and before the ducks

Always wondered what others thought.

FYI: Birds are building in the northwest metro. Pelican and surrounding ponds are beginning to show signs of good last month of the season. Just need someone to take a few thousand coots.

you must be a different kind of hunter. I have always shot ducks after the gulls are flyin. different lakes have different patterns I guess I hunt two lakes that have this pattern. the few sloughs that have gulls dont seam to have a pattern and the other lakes I hunt dont have gulls. hmm makes a guy wonder

I don't think their patterns have anything to do with eachother. Gulls like to get out and glide in the wind to search for food with minimal energy. Ducks fly in the morning to get up stretch out and get some excercise for their migration. Most places I hunt the gulls start flying mid morning and fly until late afternoon. Geese get up later than the ducks when it is time to go get some food. But like dan z said everywhere has different patterns I just don't think they correlate with eachother.
