Vex Genz Pack

Just a couple questions:

Can it fall down a 10" hole?

Is it easy to switch to and from different vexilar packs? I have a pro and am thinking about switching.

not positive about it falling down a 10" hole, we only fish out of 8" holes but it is simple to change packs, I have an fl-8 and it was a pro pack but i bought the ultra pack and that was a little more difficult cause i had to hardwire the battery in cause it is self contained in the base but chnging from a pro to a genz blue box should be a piece of cake, just un screw your fl-8 and screw it onto the genz pack.

Ah...yup....it can easily fit down a 10.25" hole.

A Genz pack and the MarCum shuttle case both are a bit smaller in diameter than a Vexilar Pro Pack or the Vexilar Ultra Pack case, and they will go down a 10.25" ice hole....~BLOOP~....."D'OH"!!!!

A soft pack adds diameter to the package, and may slow it down...maybe?

Or...Add a few sheet metal screws to the bottom corners and a couple in the bottom center of the Genz box, that way it will not want to slide on the bare smooth ice, and will bite in like ice cleats. That will give you some piece of mind.

Not completely "D'OH" Proof...but it will help.

Second part of your question was on case's.

Swapping out a Genz Blue Box case to a Vexilar FL Series case, or visa-versa, is not a chore at all...any FL series head unit and puck configuration can go on any case. It's just a matter of preference.

FYI: Even all Lowrance/Eagle/Fish Easy 500, 332, and 334 series graphs also fit nicely on a FL Series Pro Pack and Ultra Pack case, same width, and the gimbal bracket will fit. The width is narrower on the new Lowrance HD 5 and HD 7 units, so that would require several rubber trolling motor style spacer washers to accomplish it, but they will also fit. You would also require a Lowrance LEI ice puck to complete the conversion. And also a Vexilar Ice Ducer float kit with the stop and/or the Vexilar stop and eyebolt.
