Vented Heater?

Building a new fish house for winter....at the point of deciding on the heater. The ventless heaters are much more affordable at $150 or so, but thinking a direct vent is better for the house due to less humidity. However, the prices are closer to $500. What are people using and where can a person find a good deal on a direct vent style?

The vent free heaters are supposed to be safe and they are much cheaper and easier to install. However I went with the direct vent heater. I don't want to gamble on safety. I would advise anyone to stay with the vented heater.

I am a forced air guy myself. Alot of guys hate them because they need a battery to run the fan and the electronic ignitor. Batteries have never been a problem for me and my type of fishing. The fan sure keeps the house evenly heated and comfy though. I have a suburban 20,000 btu which is vented outside, and it cost around $400 new.

Forced air all the way. Love to be able to walk around bare foot in the perm. The ventless heaters heat the top of the hoise very well but the floor is ice cold. Too hot on the top bunk and way too cold on the bottom. You will be much happier with forced air heat.

I'd say vented. My grandfather almost died many years ago because his house wasn't properly vented. He lived, and learned. Even with protable shacks I make sure to leave at least a door or windo flap partially open to help prevent asphixiation.
