Coyote Hunting Questions

Recommended Posts

I have never hunted predators but am looking to this winter. I live in the metro, have a cabin neat Jackson MN, and have a friend with a place in Grand Rapids... Where should I start? I know yotes are all over the place but any info on these areas would be great!

i would look for openings, camo needs to be good; start calling mouth call will work perfect; call a few minutes with some pauses in between; and give each set 10-15minutes; and keep a watchful eye on where they pop out!

and one other thing i've learned is when they are coming towards the sound, you should stop calling, otherwise they will pin point where your at

yep I would go get a mouse peeper and start peeping away. I agree with walleyes12 on the cover scent/ you will never fool them. I always play the wind. Also don't go into a spot and start squawking all loudly. Go in silent and softly start with a mouse peeper give that a bit then move into a louder rabbit call or a excited pup call. If you go in screaming on the calls more then likely you will spook away ever yote around. Work them a bit so that they don't get call shy and also you want to be able to hunt that spot again so do mess it up for the next time.
