I'm In! Would you guys be looking shallow this time of year? any general patterns that usually work? I usually never catch fish this time of year, but you know what they say..... Quiters Never Win

It can be really variable from lake to lake day to day. Check both shallow, deep, and in between. Deep weededge almost always seems to hold some fish though. If you catch a couple really tune in to where they were and what you were doing. Hopefully someone gets into some pigs this weekend.

Most people won't be looking shallow, but a few fish will still be in green weeds. I would look to fish the bottom of the water column near the deep edge though if you go that route, or fish deep structure slowly with big baits. Otherwise be like me and pick a shallow aerated lake, the fish can't go deep on you

My biggest bass last year came when I was being hit with ice pellets and the wind up around 30mph. This weekend will be downright comfortable compared to that.

Not huge at just under 18", but a nice start to the weekend... Caught about 10 total with a few in this size range...

stood outside for about 15 minutes and realized I don't have my winter coat on yet... might have to sit this one out, not to mention the roads are covered in ice. <--excuses

i got up. got to the lake. dropped boat in. turned it over a few times. almost started, then the battery died. so i turned around and went home. i thought about to taking a picture of my battery with the secret word.

Hit a new lake I had never fished before today. Tough bite, but ended up with a few...

A 20"er! my partner caught it though...

I did end up with a 19"er that weighed more though

Buddy and I fished 3 different lakes from 8 to 6 on Sunday. It was a tough day with only 13 fish caught. My largest was around 19 (didn't put it on the board) and buddy had a 20 3/4" and a 20 1/4". Didn't have a camera, and it was just too darn cold to dig the cell phone camera out of our pockets! ) So no win for us, and that's OK.

However I did wanna post a question. Both of his fish were extremely long, but very skinny. 6 lbs heads, and the fish probably only weighed 4ish lbs. A couple of the shorter fish we caught we fat, but not "fall fat". With this QUICK cool down, do you think that it's tough on the fish as they don't have as long to feed up before winter?

Was out on saturday and sunday and could only managed about 15 fish between both days. The problem I had was I couldn't catch any size. It seemed that the fish were staying tight on the inside and outside edge.

Where are the big ones?
